Aprovecho Research Center announces our 2011 Winter Stove Workshop - January 22-26
The five-day seminar is designed for the World Food Program and other people working in the cookstove development community. This hands-on learning opportunity will be held in the western Oregon town of Cottage Grove. Participants are encouraged to attend the weekend-long ETHOS* international stove conference in Seattle immediately following Aprovecho’s Winter Stove Camp.
 In five intensive days, we will teach cookstove design principles, testing protocols for better stove development and testing, and reducing stove emissions by 90% to address issues of indoor air pollution, human health, and climate change.
At Aprovecho, we have been developing and using state-of-the-art stove design and evaluation techniques for 25 years. We want to share our scientific approach with stove program administrators, project managers, developers, communications experts, and field personnel like yourself, so we can all help contribute to the proliferation of great cookstoves worldwide.
We are a hands-on laboratory, and our teaching methodology is experiential. As a participant, you will actively test and evaluate different types of stoves. But don’t worry, you don’t need any specific lab skills - that is what the Aprovecho Research Center staff will provide you. We guarantee you will come away from this workshop with an advanced, scientific understanding of good stove development, and the best practices for innovation testing and monitoring.
You will spend your time in both informative lectures with the entire group, and hands-on lab sessions with smaller groups led by Aprovecho experts.
